Our dietitians specialize in the problems of the obstetrical patient and are available for preconception counseling. Day and evening hours are provided for your convenience. Candidates for this service include diabetics, multiple gestations, pregnancies with elevated blood pressure, inadequate weight gain, excess weight gain, and those with specialized medical problems such as Crohns Disease, food allergies, and anemia. Your nutritional status before, during and following pregnancy is of primary importance to your health, as well as that of your baby. For this reason, Madonna Perinatal Services offers the following programs in nutritional counseling at all of our centers. Pre-Pregnancy Counseling Prior to pregnancy, dietary counseling is available for weight reduction and to prepare your body nutritionally for childbirth. Proper pre-pregnancy nutrition has proven to be critically important in ensuring a good outcome, as well as minimizing the incidence of abnormalities. Nutrition During Pregnancy Our registered dietitians are specialists in nutrition during pregnancy and are available to help you maintain a proper diet, as well as minimize unnecessary weight gain, while you are pregnant. Nutrition and Breast Feeding Special diets formulated to maximize the nutrients to the fetus, while helping to maintain the health of the mother, are available to those women who are breast feeding. In addition, special diets are available to promote weight reduction after delivery, while monitoring healthy milk production. Postpartum Weight Reduction Also available is a special program of nutritional counseling for weight control and reduction after delivery. Special dietary assistance can be provided to maximize postpartum weight loss in a healthy and sensible manner.
